Waterjet Loom Maintenance, Water Quality and Common Faults

Stable production begins with correct installation, clean and consistent water, trained operators, routine inspection, and careful troubleshooting of the weft-insertion and edge-forming systems.

Good maintenance should prevent faults, not only respond after a stop. A simple recorded routine helps operators notice changes in the jet, cutting, selvage, belts, lubrication, sound, vibration, and fabric quality before a small issue causes repeated downtime.

ROUTINE MAINTENANCE

Clean, lubricate, inspect, and record

Create daily and periodic checks based on running hours and factory conditions. Clean the loom and water circuit, check oil, fasteners, belts, nozzle direction, scissors, leno devices, and the weft detector. Record unusual sound, vibration, alarms, and fabric defects so small changes can be noticed early.

COMMON FAULTS

Check the affected system before changing settings

If a fault appears, first identify the system involved. Common problem areas include scissors, leno tension, nozzle direction, feeder or belt position, weft detection, and pump flow after a fabric change. Check the mechanical condition and timing before altering several settings. Finding the cause is more reliable than repeated adjustment.

WEFT INSERTION

Troubleshoot the pump and nozzle from the root cause

When insertion becomes weak or unstable, inspect the plunger, spring, cam linkage, check valves, nozzle, clamp, timing, remaining water, and shed. Higher pressure should not be used to hide a worn part, incorrect timing, poor yarn preparation, or a blocked jet path.

A clear photo or video of the jet, alarm, fabric defect, and machine setting helps technical support diagnose the cause.

WATER QUALITY

Keep the water clean and consistent

Changes in water quality can affect the pump, nozzle, filtration, corrosion risk, fabric appearance, and running stability. Monitor filtration and changes in hardness, pH, conductivity, suspended solids, and biological growth. Water treatment should be based on the actual local source rather than one universal value.

Keep a simple water-test and filter-maintenance record. Water changes often appear first as nozzle, pressure, or fabric problems.

INSTALLATION AND SUPPORT

Build a reliable baseline before production

Before production begins, correct leveling, anchoring, alignment, power, water, drainage, and reference-fabric settings should establish a reliable baseline. Operators should understand safe operation, style changes, alarms, cleaning, and daily checks. Documentation, critical spares, warranty, remote support, and on-site service should also be confirmed before shipment.
